Rajasthan Assembly Session: Rajasthan’s Forest and Environment Minister Hemaram Choudhary said in the assembly on Tuesday that environmental clearance has been given only under the rules for the establishment of large industries, cement plants, etc. in urban, suburban and urban bodies and other places. The cement plant established in the area of Mundwa Municipality is away from the populated area of Mundwa. Environmental clearance in this regard was also issued by the Government of India in the year 2011. He was answering a member’s supplementary question during the Question Hour.
Approval is issued under the rules
In a written reply to the original question of MLA Narayan Beniwal, the Forest and Environment Minister said that there is no provision to give environment clearance for the establishment of cement plant at a fixed distance from the urban area. Under the notification dated September 14, 2006 of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India, the Government of India and the State Level Environment Impact Authority, Rajasthan issues environmental clearance for the cement industry and large industries.
After this, the Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board issues conditional installation and operation consent to large industries and cement plants only under the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974 and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981.
no complaints received
Minister Chaudhary said that on the basis of the information received from the State Level Environment Impact Authority, Rajasthan, on the basis of office records, from January 2018 to August 1, 2021, any cement plant in the state received any complaint regarding the issuance of environmental clearance on the basis of wrong facts. Has not happened.
