Admiral R Hari Kumar Remarks: Indian Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar has said that by 2047, the Indian Navy will be completely self-sufficient (Atmanirbhar). During the India Defense Conclave 2022, Admiral Hari Kumar said, “From ships and submarines to the production of spares and weapons, the Indian Navy will be completely self-sufficient by 2047.”
The Navy chief said there was much to be learned from the Russo-Ukraine war, which saw the use of new technology, cyberspace and precision ammunition of all kinds. He said that the conflict between the two countries has underlined the need of self-reliance for the defense of a country.
What did Admiral R Hari Kumar say?
Admiral R Hari Kumar said, “By 2047, we will have a completely indigenous navy, be it ships or submarines, aircraft, unmanned systems, weapons and the entire complex.” Responding to a question at the Defense Conclave. Admiral Hari Kumar said, “Our aim is to become a completely self-reliant navy.” When asked whether the supply chain of the Indian Navy has been affected due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, he said, “As of now we We are not under pressure about it. We have enough stock of spares. Today we have no one to deploy our ships or aircraft. We have taken steps to take help from our own industry.
Indigenization of the Navy was started in 1961
Admiral Hari Kumar said that the Indian Navy started indigenization in 1961, when INS Ajay was built as the first patrol boat in India. He said, “Since then we have made a lot of progress.” Let us tell you that on the last two September, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the INS Vikrant aircraft carrier to the Indian Navy. INS Vikrant is touted as the first indigenous aircraft carrier. There are reports that now preparations are on to build a bigger and indigenous warship than INS Vikrant. The name of this warship is being told as INS Vishal. It will be built at the Cochin Shipyard.
