Delhi Jal Board: The Delhi Jal Board has now taken a tough stand regarding disturbances in water meter reading in Delhi. An FIR has been lodged against a meter reader of a private agency appointed for billing. A complaint was received against this meter reader regarding irregularities in billing.
Delhi Jal Board vice-chairman Saurabh Bhardwaj had last week directed to register an FIR against the erring meter readers and their respective agency. Saurabh Bhardwaj also directed the officials of the Delhi Jal Board to issue notices to the agencies paying less than the minimum honorarium, as well as writing a letter to the Labor Department requesting them to take strict action against such agencies.
Action against corrupt meter readers
There are a total of 41 zones of Delhi Jal Board, in which private agencies have been appointed for billing in 21 zones. For some time now, many consumers have complained against the meter readers of these private agencies that they are tempted to reduce the meter reading by taking money. In such a situation, the vice-chairman of the board said that we have to take strict action against such corrupt meter readers as well as inform the consumers that there is no such technique to reduce meter reading. This time the meter reader will reduce your bill by writing less reading, but later it will be your loss. Because you will have to pay this bill one day or the other and by then this bill will be too much to collect.
