Joshimath Helang Marwari Bypass Construction Begins As Supreme Court Gives Its Nod Ann


Uttarakhand News: The construction work of the proposed Helang-Marwari Bypass Road on Badrinath Highway under All-Weather Road has started. After getting the green signal from the Supreme Court, the BRO has started work. With the construction of this bypass route, the distance of Badrinath Dham will be reduced by 30 km. Along with this, the movement of the army up to the border with China will become easy. This bypass will be six kilometers long.

The movement against the bypass went on for a year

In protest against this bypass, Joshimath Bachao Sangharsh Samiti had agitated for more than a year, in which the Mahesh Mishra Committee of 1972 was cited. Due to this, in 1989, the Lucknow High Court had given a stay order in the construction of this bypass, due to which the construction work of this bypass remained in limbo for a long time. After this the matter reached the Supreme Court. Citing to facilitate the movement of the army to the China border area, the Union Transport Ministry called the construction of the bypass route necessary, after which the construction of the route has got the green signal from the court.

Helang-Joshimath road will be widened

Along with the construction of the bypass road, the work of widening the Helang-Joshimath motorway is also going on in full swing. BRO Commander Col Manish Kapil told that the work of Helang-Marwari has started, a bridge will be constructed to ensure that the road construction does not require much mining. After two months, the work of cutting the hill will be started and if the weather favors then the construction work of the bypass will be completed within a year. On the other hand, Deputy Collector Kumkum Joshi said, ‘This route is 6.25 km, due to which the route from Helang to Marwari will be completed in less than half an hour, so that the commuters will not face traffic problems.’
