Modi Government Is Giving Free Ration To 80 Crore Indians Every Month Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana

PM Modi On PMGKAY: PM Narendra Modi (PM Modi) Soon the Prime Minister will take the final decision on the Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. This scheme is going to end on 30th September. In such a situation, whether this scheme will be expanded or will the stress on government finance and food supply be reduced, it will be decided soon. Under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, the Modi government is giving 5 kg of wheat or rice and one kg of gram per month to 80 crore Indians at a cost of about 1.5 trillion rupees every month from April 2020.

According to media reports, the Finance Ministry is not in favor of expanding the scheme, as it puts pressure on a budget deficit. The final decision will be taken by PM Modi’s office, which is also considering other options, such as the festive season and elections in several states.

Will the decision be taken in view of the election?

Let us tell you that it will not be an easy option for the Modi government to end this scheme. The Bharatiya Janata Party is trying to retain power in Himachal Pradesh as well as in Modi’s home state Gujarat, where assembly elections are due by the end of this year.

According to a report published in Mint, Professor Sanjay Kumar of the Center for the Study of Developing Societies, New Delhi said, “If you stop these, it will definitely have some negative impact on the voting preferences of the people.” He also said that a significant number of voters who benefited from the free food scheme had voted for the ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh, the country’s most populous state, earlier this year.

A total of Rs 3.40 lakh crore will be spent

Under PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana, 5 kg of free rice or wheat, 1 kg of gram is given to more than 80 crore people. This is in addition to the subsidized ration under the National Food Security Act. The government has spent about Rs 2.60 lakh crore on this scheme till March and another Rs 80,000 crore will be spent by September 2022. This will take the total expenditure under PMGKAY to about Rs 3.40 lakh crore.

The plan deadline has been extended several times

Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY Benefits) has given great relief to the people during inflation and corona epidemic. 80 crore people of the country are getting the benefit of this scheme. The central government is giving the ration received through this scheme to the people through ration shops. Talking on this matter, in the annual meeting of Roller Flour Millers Federation of India, Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey said that this is a big government decision on which the final decision has to be taken by Prime Minister Modi.
