IPS Rashmi Shukla Meets CM Shinde: Maharashtra cadre IPS officer Rashmi Shukla met the Chief Minister of Maharashtra in Delhi on Thursday. Eknath Shinde and this intensified the speculation of his return to Mumbai. Shukla, who is currently posted as Additional Director General of Central Reserve Police Force in Hyderabad, has three FIRs registered against him in Mumbai for illegal phone tapping and leaking of confidential documents. Shukla, a 1988 batch IPS, has now met CM Shinde after meeting Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis at his official bungalow in Mumbai on 18 August.

He had sought central deputation in February 2021 after the MVA government accused him of tapping the phones of some political leaders of Shiv Sena and NCP and some unnamed persons, and then to Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis for alleged corruption in police transfers. Minister of Shinde government said about the meeting

IPS Rashmi Shukla has three more years to retire and a senior leader of the Shinde camp said she may return to an important post in the Mumbai Police till the High Court orders it. He has filed a petition in the Bombay High Court to quash the FIR against him. She said that “she has almost three years for her retirement and would like to come back and serve in her home cadre. The present government is also in favor of his return to Maharashtra.”

When asked about Shukla’s meeting with the chief minister on Thursday, school education minister and Shinde camp spokesperson Deepak Kesarkar called it a “courtesy call”. He said that the meeting should not be viewed from any other angle. Maharashtra cadre officers keep meeting the CM when he is in Delhi.
