Pakistan Diplomat Meets Khalistanis: Pakistan is fueling anti-India activities from Canada. There are reports that Pakistani diplomats and officials held secret meetings with anti-India elements in Canada.
Actually, anti-India elements had held a referendum on Khalistan in Canada on 18 September. This referendum was held in Brampton, Ontario. According to reports, on the same day Pakistani Consul General Janbaz Khan visited two gurdwaras supporting Khalistan in Sarri, Vancouver. The reason behind this visit of Janbaz Khan was told that he had gone to thank the gurdwaras because from there donations have been made to flood-hit Pakistan.
Pakistani diplomats had reached these gurdwaras supporting Khalistan
Janbaz Khan has spent two terms in the Pakistani High Commission in India. He, along with two officials from his consulate, had visited the pro-Khalistan Dasmesh Darbar and Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara on September 18 and held secret meetings with separatist functionaries.
Hardeep Singh Nijjar is the president of Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, one of these two gurdwaras. There are many allegations of Sikh fundamentalism against Nijjar. A reward of Rs 10 lakh has been declared on his head. He is on the wanted list of the NIA in four cases, including conspiracy to kill a Hindu priest in Phillaur, Punjab. Nijjar is also the head of the Khalistan Tiger Force and a representative of the Sikh for Justice platform in the US run by separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. At the same time, Dashmesh Darbar is also run by separatist elements and friends of Nijjar.
What did India say on Khalistan referendum?
India has reacted strongly to the Khalistani referendum held in Canada. Foreign Ministry spokesman Arindam Bagchi said on Thursday, “This is a ridiculous exercise organized by extremist and radical elements in Canada. The matter has been taken up with the Canadian authorities. We find it highly objectionable that a politically motivated exercise is allowed in a friendly country.

At the same time, Canada’s Justin Trudeau government has officially informed India that it does not recognize the so-called referendum and respects India’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. The Canadian government is being accused of doing nothing to curb anti-India tendencies among the radical Sikh community for the sake of vote bank.
